Paintable Silhouette Targets

The rated calibers for the target start from a minimum of .22 caliber and go up. We have tested it successfully with a .54 caliber 425 grain muzzle loader round, proving its durability against larger ammunition. Avoid hollow points, wadcutters, and flat nose projectiles, as these can do permanent damage to the target.

We have successfully shot over 1,000 rounds of 9mm through a 6” gong and the target still has life left in it. These targets are designed to maintain their shape and integrity through hundreds/thousands of rounds, depending on the size of the target and calibers being used.  Additionally, the color change feature will last the entire life of the target, provided they are stored properly.

Due to its sensitivity to UV light, the material is prone to color fading. We recommend removing it from UV light exposure when not in use and storing it indoors, away from any UV light sources. However, even if the color of the target becomes faded, the self-healing and color changing features will not be affected.

Our patented heat activated material captures the energy and heat from the bullet and temporarily changes the color of the target at the point of impact. For the best color change effect, we recommend selecting the appropriate temperature range for the climate you primarily shoot in.  Remember, the target itself needs to be in that range as well. Meaning, the material of the target needs to be the same as the ambient temperature you are shooting in. Example, do not leave the target in the car on a cool night then take it into an indoor range that has an ambient temperature of 70 degrees and the temperature of the material is 30 degrees.  If you are out of the temperature range, it will not hurt the target and you will still get the reactiveness but not the color change.

We suggest attaching the target's strap to a standard 2x4 using a few staples or a wood screw. Ensure that the targets are allowed to swing freely and avoid mounting them against a hard backstop, as this could permanently damage the color change effect.

The entire DA product line is designed to allow all projectiles (traveling over 1000FPS) to pass through the target. Our targets should NOT be used with BB guns or airsoft guns, as the projectile will not penetrate the target and will ricochet. Our targets will not stop projectiles or alter their point of impact in any way, so as always, be aware of your surroundings. Make sure there is an adequate back drop/berm to stop projectiles, and never shoot without proper eye and ear protection. Be sure to check range rules or with a range official before using DA Targets.
